Boris Antunovic

Professor of Food Safety, Animal Health & Welfare, University of J.J. Strossmayer, Croatia

The core elements of his research activities are safety of products of animal origin, meat hygiene, risk assessment, risk communication, as well as positive animal welfare. He is currently leading an EU funded project in Ukraine that aligns standards in Food Safety, Animal Health & Welfare with EU through preparation of legislation and its implementation.

Boris is having a role of Science Communication Manager within the RIBMINS Action.

His contributions to the training school are the following:

  • Legislation framework that leads to Meat Safety Assurance System changes
  • Introducing the concepts of risk communication
  • Challenges and opportunities in the implementation of new meat inspection systems in Europe

I am happy to be a part of this Training School which will raise awareness on the importance of meat inspection to be risk based.
