His research focuses on regulatory enforcement and compliance. He has studied compliance motivations among professionals in food industries since the late 1990s. He has been paricularly concerned with the question of how cultures of compliance or resistance emerge, and with how public authorities may foster such cultures. His recent research has focused on the effects of regulatory enforcement.
