Vice-Director of the UTAD Research Centre for Animal and Veterinary Science. Responsible for the Trichinella analysis service at the UTAD Laboratory of Technology, Quality and Food Safety. The main research activity is focused on detection and control strategies of zoonoses and zoonotic agents under an integrated – farm to slaughter – meat inspection of slaughtered animals (mainly game, pigs and poultry), as well as on animal welfare.
