Fields of interests: Control of pathogenic bacteria in the food chain from farm to table, epidemiology, risk analysis, HACCP, meat inspection, food microbiology, meat science. Truls Nesbakken has worked within the field of control of zoonotic agents since 1981, in different positions at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science, as a research director at Norwegian Meat Research Centre (Animalia) and as a professor at Department of Veterinary Microbiology, The RoyalVeterinary and Agricultural University (KVL), Copenhagen, Denmark.
Truls Nesbakken is vice-leader of WG2(farm level)and is one of the training school organizers.
His contributions to the training school are the following:
- Food Chain Information (FCI) and Harmonized Epidemiological Indicators (HEIs) as tool for risk categorization of farms
- Group work teacher: Control of Yersinia enterocolitica using FCI & HEIs for risk categorization
I am convinced that this Training School will follow up the EFSA opinions on meat inspection and even add new ideas for meat inspection during a collaboration between academia, authorities, and the meat industry that in the end might result into a Risk based meat assurance system with a legal basis that protects the consumers.
